Sculpted portrait from life, but it was left unfinished while my mother was seriously ill. As the clay dried, deep fractures appeared across its surface. I repaired these cracks in gold, inspired by Kintsugi, the Japanese philosophy that honours breakage as part of an object’s story. The gilded seams speak to resilience, showing how lives, relationships, and memories may fracture yet continue to hold dignity and beauty.
