“I’m thrilled that the judges recognised the possibilities of water-based media for sculpture. For all three pieces to be selected, and for Poised to be awarded Highly Commended, is such an honour”

With an arched neck and gently tilted head, this ceramic equine sculpture holds space with quiet poise, neither tense nor at rest, but suspended in a moment of attentive stillness.

The form suggests a breath held, an energy gathered, as though the horse is awaiting something just beyond our perception. Its presence is grounded yet alert, echoing the silent communication between horse and human, nature and instinct.

Textured surfaces and layered colour evoke highlight and evoke strength, sensitivity and poise.
