Creative communities
Posted on Nov 15, 2024November has been a busy, invigorating and inspiring month, with workshops, exhibition applications, evolving new work, updating my website and last night’s RBSA Annual Exhibition Private View, all with their unique dialogue, new faces, challenges, knowledge, guidance and enthusiasm.
As a sculptor, I spend considerable time working solo, immersed in shaping clay and exploring ideas and materials in solitude. But regularly connecting with other creatives—painters, photographers, poets, writers, musicians, or designers—has become an essential part of my process. Like any positive community, creative communities provide a space where support, nurturing, and constructive critique help us reflect, push boundaries and blossom.
Sharing thoughts, techniques, and solutions with people across different disciplines not only fuels new ideas but keeps the creative spark alive. These exchanges help me approach my work with fresh energy, expanded vision and technical backup. Creativity thrives on collaboration, and there is real power in the collective enthusiasm of artists coming together to inspire, grow, and push one another forward.
