The Equine Connection: A Life Long Passion For Horses.
Posted on Oct 24, 2024Growing up in a horse racing village nestled in the rolling downlands of Oxfordshire, I was surrounded by horses, the rhythm of their trotting hooves, and the sweet scent of the stables from a young age. Horses have always been woven into the fabric of my life, and my fascination with these majestic creatures comes from deep family roots.

Both my grandfather and father were horsemen, and their passion for the sport and these animals sparked a lifelong love for everything equine.
As a child, I spent many days riding sturdy ponies, eventually working my way up to graceful racehorses. I have vivid memories of trotting up steep hills on frosty early mornings, the crisp air and feeling the power of the horse beneath, invigorating. There’s something unforgettable about meandering along or racing across open fields, which gave me a sense of freedom and connection like nothing else.
My equine sculptures reflect this lifelong passion. Each piece explores the nobility, strength, and grace of the horse, drawing on my personal experiences and memories. I aim to honour not only the animals themselves but also the deep, historical connection between humans, horses, and their environment—a bond that has shaped my life and, in many ways, our collective past. Through my sculptures, I hope to share the beauty and spirit of these magnificent creatures with others, as they have been a constant source of inspiration and joy for me throughout my life.
